Ha Long-Fangcheng maritime route reopened
The maritime route linking Ha Long (Vietnam) and Fangcheng (China) was officially reopened at Hon Gai Vinashin seaport in Ha Long city on April 11.
The route was opened earlier in December 2010 but has been suspended until now.
2 million brochures promote Ha Long Bay
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched a campaign on April 9 to promote tourism and voting for Ha Long Bay as a natural wonder of the world.
More than 120 travel agents and three-five star hotels in Ho Chi Minh City joined the campaign.
Festivities set to boost Ha Long image
The Week of Ha Long Tourism 2011 will be the biggest ever, with a series of festivities in support of the superb bay’s bid for the New7Wonders title this year.
The event, scheduled to take place at the Ha Long tourist site in Quang Ninh province from April 28-May 1, will cover a large range of festivities, from culture and arts, including a poetry night, to sports such as an international beach volleyball final round, culinary arts and an international trade fair.
Star Cruises to return to Halong after three-year hiatus
HCMC – The SuperStar Aquarius ship of the Star Cruises Hong Kong Limited will come back to Quang Ninh Province’s Halong City on April 3, nearly three years after the cruise line suspended Halong’s calls.
According to the local service provider of the ship, Saigontourist Travel Service Co., the ship will bring around 2,200 crew members and passengers to Halong, which is known for the UNESCO World Heritage-listed bay of the same name.
Ha Long to host tourism week next week
The Ha Long – Quang Ninh tourism week will be held between April 28 and May 2 in the Tuan Chau Tourism Area with eventful and attractive cultural, sport and tourism events.

The tourism week comprises a carnival, a promotion seminar for Ha Long bay to be one of Seven Wonders of the World, gastronomy festival, beach volleyball final, tennis contest and music performance.
Halong incident may spell end for tour company
AZ Queen, a Hanoi-based travel firm, must stop all its services because it been providing services without a license.
The company was operating the boat that recently went down in the Halong Bay, which left 12 dead.
Three cruise ships land at Ha Long Bay
Three five-star cruise ships arrived at Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province on February 28 and March 1. From the bay, thousands of international tourists will flock out to visit landscapes in Vietnam.
Campaigns launched to vote for Ha Long Bay
The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism is planning to launch more campaigns, from February to November, to obtain more votes from local people and international friends, to promote Ha Long Bay as one of the world’s new seven natural wonders.
Accordingly, a program named, “Ha Long Bay in the Heart of Capital Hanoi”, will be underway from April 30th to May 1st to encourage people in the City.
Tourist boat’s hull “suddenly broke”, killing 12 in Ha Long Bay
An accident in Ha Long Bay, which killed twelve people, was caused by the ships hull suddenly giving way.
Senior Lieutenant – Colonel Phi Van Minh, head of Ha Long City Police Department, said that according to statements by members of the crew, the bottom of the ship "suddenly broke", which resulted in the accident.
Tourist boat sinks in Vietnam bay, 12 die
Tourists from Australia, Britain and the US are among a dozen people killed in a boat accident in Vietnam's Ha Long Bay, officials say.
The ship went down at 5am on Thursday (0900 AEDT) near Titov island, said Vu Van Bot, a police investigator in Quang Ninh province.
