Over 6 million international tourists visited Vietnam in 2011
Hoang Thi Diep, deputy head of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, revealed that Vietnam received more than 6 million international visitors during 2011.
The National Tourism Year 2012 program themed “Heritage Tourism” featuring a series of activities to be celebrated throughout the North Central coastal regions during the course of next year is expected to raise this figure even higher by 2012.

Hue festival to feature traditional cuisine
Traditional foods will be the highlight of the fourth Traditional Craft Villages Festival 2011, themed “Vietnamese Kitchen in Hue’s Garden” and will be held in the ancient capital of Hue from April 30 to May 3.
The festival which will be organized in three areas: Ngo Mon Square (Noon Gate), Dai Noi (Royal Palace) and at the Huong (Perfume) River bank. The biennial festival will introduce hundreds of specialty dishes from the south, Hanoi and Hue. Native bonsais plants from all across Vietnam will be showcased to plant lovers.
Thua Thien-Hue to host national tourism year 2012
The national tourism year 2012 themed “Hue-Ancient capital city-New experiences” will be held in central Thua Thien-Hue province.
The event is expected to promote Vietnam ’s tourism products and cultural heritages, attract more foreign tourists and boost domestic tourism.
Modern trains to be used on Hanoi - Danang route
Two modern trains, SE19 and SE20, will be put into service as from April 12th for tourists on the Hanoi–Danang route, according to the Hanoi Railway Transportation Company.
The two new trains are expected to meet the high demand of visitors during summer holidays in two famous tourism destinations of the country.
Hue Festival to be held next April
The seventh Hue Festival will be held next April in the central province of Thua Thien- Hue, local authorities said.
The festival, themed “Cultural heritage with integration and development- rendezvous of historical cities”, will be a spotlight of the National Tourism Year 2012, which will also be hosted by the province.
Jetstar Pacific’s engineers get VAR66 licenses
Seventeen Vietnamese aircraft maintenance engineers of the budget airline Jetstar Pacific, for the first time, have got Cat B practice licenses (VAR66 Licenses).
Jetstar Pacific has announced that three out of the 17 engineers have successfully passed the exam for CRS (Certificate Release to Service) under the strict supervision of foreign experts in order to be able to officially to undertake the role of Cat B degree engineers at the air carrier. The other 14 engineers will be tested to have their ranks upgraded in the time to come.
Da Nang Firework Festival attracts tourists
Five teams from the UK, South Korea, Italy, China and Vietnam will participate in the International Firework Festival in the central city of Da Nang on April 29-30.
Some travel firms said that their tours to Da Nang during this time are nearly fully booked.
Central province promotes coast
The central province of Phu Yen in co-ordination with the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) introduced the National Tourism Year 2011 agenda during a press briefing last week.
Under the theme Exotic Beaches and Islands, the event includes 30 cultural, sports and tourism events in Phu Yen and six other co-hosting provinces and cities along the central coast.
