Dong Van Karst Plateau named World Geopark
Dong Van Karst Plateau in the northern province of Ha Giang has recently been declared a member of the UNESCO Global Network of National Geoparks.
A ceremony to present the recognition certificate was held in Dong Van town, Ha Giang province by the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO and the provincial People’s Committee on December 1.

Northern Vietnam highlands named UNESCO 'Geopark'
The Dong Van Stone Highlands in the northern province of Ha Giang have been recognized as a member of UNESCO-supported Global Geoparks Network (GNN).
The recognition was announced at biennial meeting held Sunday in Greece’s Lesvos of GGN, which promotes and preserves geoparks around the world.
Aniqueness at Dong Van Stone Plateau
Dong Van ancient street zone is a complex of architectural works with unique ancient architectural styles of Vietnam and China including more than 40 houses of Tay, Nung, Hoa, Mong, Dao ethnic groups dwelling generations here.
It is exhausting to travel to the stone plateau. Stones are big like oxes or elephants and containing dangerous bends as folds on a sleeve. Along the road are rocky cliffs on one side and deep abysses on the other side.
