Hue welcomes 30,000 foreigners during Tet
The famous citadel in the former imperial capital of Hue drew more than 50,000 tourists, including 30,000 foreigners, during the recent Lunar New Year festival ( Tet).
Flights opened on Taiwan-Can Tho route during Tet holiday 2011
Representatives of Vietnam Airlines office in Can Tho said that during the lunar new year (Tet holiday) 2011, the national flag carrier will increase flights on the route linking Taiwan, China to Can Tho, as reported by the Vietnam News Agency. This is the second year flights on the route are launched but with a four-fold increase in the number of flights from 2009.
Specifically, there will be 11 direct flights from Taiwan to Can Tho on January 5, 12, 19, 26, and 29 and vice versa, a flight from Gao Xiong to Can Tho on January 30 and vice versa on February 7, and a flight from Tai Zhong to Can Tho on January 30 and vice versa on February 7.
Travel agencies gear up for Tet holidays
Travel agencies nationwide have prepared tours for overseas Vietnamese, who are expected to return home at the end of this year for the Lunar New Year Festival.
Mr. Tran The Dung, Deputy Director of the Young Generation Travel Agency, revealed that this month saw a 50% increase in the number of tourists to Da Nang, Hue, Hai Phong and Hanoi compared to last month’s figure.

Vietnam has many public holidays, special festivals and events.
The most important celebration of year in Vietnam is Tet, or Lunar New Year, which falls either in late January or early February each year. Vietnamese people have officially three public days, but in reality almost all of Vietnam shuts down for a full week.
