Ho Chi Minh City attracts 620,000 foreign visitors

Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 620,000 foreign visitors in the first two months of this year, an increase of 9% over the same period last year, according to the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This brought the city’s tourism sector a turnover of VND 7,860 billion, up 24% compared to the same period last year and achieving 16% of the target set for 2011.

 


In February, the sector gained a turnover of VND 4,300 billion, up 34% over the same period last year.

In March, the sector will take part in Vietnam Culture and Tourism Week in Doha, Qatar and the 18th Executive Committee’s annual meeting of the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asian-Pacific Cities that will take place in China. The sector will also host a Tourism Festival in April, the Southern Gastronomy Festival in May and the Southern Fruit Festival 2011 in June.
