DAY 2: VIENTIANE -  LUANG PRABANG 

Transfer to airport for scenic flight to Luang Prabang and transfer to hotel. The royal capital of the former Lane Xang Kingdom, Luang Prabang with its gleaming temple roofs, colonial architecture and stunning mountain backdrop, retains an unique charm rarely found in all Asia. An orientation tour around this picturesque town will give you the opportunity to chat with monks at a local temple. At sunset, ascend the 328 steps to the top of Phou Si Mountain that offers a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding rivers and cityscape. In the evening, wander through the bustling Night Market where ethnic hill tribe minorities peddle their wares of traditional costumes and handicrafts.

DAY3: LUANG PRABANG - PAKOU CAVES OR TAM TING CAVE - LUANG PRABANG

Rise early at dawn to experience life as a local by watching monks in saffron robes going on their Alms Collection before visiting the local fresh market. Soak in the history of Luang Prabang at the Royal Palace, now the National Museum, Wat Visoun with its iconic Watermelon Stupa and Wat Aham. Watch the adept skills of weavers as they demonstrate the significance of Silk Weaving in Lao culture at the Ock Pop Tok gallery where you will be inspired to design your own scarf.
Afternoon, gently cruise down Mekong River to admire the startling collection of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of all shapes and sizes nestled deep in the massive limestone caverns of the Pak Ou Caves. Free Traditional Laos Message.

DAY 4:  LUANG PRABANG - ELEPHANT RIDING - TREKKING 

 Depart from Luang Prabang; we first drive uphill toward the northeast of Luang Prabang to Ban Pha Nom, a silk waving village. We continue to Noon Rapid to visit the tomb of the 19th century French explorer Henri Mouhot; the first European to rediscover Angkor Wat and to visit the Royal Kingdom of Luang Prabang. We then drive a bit further to Ban Noon for 1 ½ hour elephant ride. After lunch, our trek starts from Ban Suan of Hmong and Khmu ethnic minorities. After 2 hours trekking, we arrive to Tad Sae Waterfall. From here we take a fishing boat upstream to Ban Ann Savan for a transfer back to Luang Prabang.

DAY 5: LUANG PRABANG - BAN HUAYPHENG

 We depart from hotel. We first cycle toward south of Luang Prabang, on the way to Xayabouly. It takes around 2 hours on paved road and 1 hour on dirt road. We then make a stop for lunch. We continue our off road ride. The ride will be gradually up hill through a forest and go deeper to a jungle. Time for a rest nearby a waterfall! Afterward, we cycle through beautiful landscape before arriving to Ban Huaypheng (Khmu hill tribe) for the night. We will have a chance to attend a Baci ceremony with the villagers.

Approximately: 1 hour tranfer/6 hours cycling.

DAY 6: BAN HUAYPHENG - BAN LONG LAOBAMBOO RAFT IN WET SEASON

After breakfast, we follow the path in the valley of the Khmu village. A nice walk leads us through the rice field and scenic landscape. In the wet season, no one knows where the water comes from to flood the whole area. The high limestone mountain also disappears in the water. In the dry season we take a walk and in the wet season we take a bamboo raft.
We break for lunch and then continue the trek through the second forest to Hmong Camp in the valley before arriving to Ban Long Lao, another Hmong village for the overnight. We will attend Baci ceremony with villagers.

DAY 7: BAN LONG LAO - KUANG SI WATERFALL - LUANG PRABANG

After breakfast, from this rural setting, the trail leads thru rice fields and vegetable gardens before reaching the forested mountains with some steeper parts. A cave is explored on the way, which during the Second Indochina War, used as a bomb shelter for the villagers living in this valley.

After descending from the top of the waterfall, a Lao-style lunch is served around lush setting.
The afternoon is spent bathing and relaxing by the turquoise pools below. Make sure, you visit Phet, the orphaned tiger, and a young bear living just by the entrance gate. Before returning to Luang Prabang, we take a walk around nearby Ban Thapene, a Khmu village that lies around some of the most beautiful waterfalls.
